Indulging in gesture. Everyone who comes into the studio seems drawn to the minimalism of these canvases - I'd prefer they weren't. These will probably be painted over in the future.
Thanks Don, I think you are right on the money about leaving these alone. I'm doing more and approaching them as gestures, like quick ink sketches or charcoals I do to warm up or warm down in my studio. The fact is I enjoy them and I've had enough visitors respond positively to them that I realize I have every right to "be indulgent".
Reflect on it awhile before you paint them over, Marc...these islands are superb.
