Here is an earlier painting posted, with the more recent work on the painting. I continue to work on a piece until I feel the image is arising from the paint rather than a concept I've drawn out and filled in - more satisfying to draw with paint than do a painted drawing. The challenges usually result in a "truer" image.
Interesting how current news can influence how/what we see. A few months ago I would have likely viewed this as some kind of smokestack in the sky. Today, I immediately thought of oil spewing out of the seafloor.
ReplyDeleteHey I know what you mean, the work can't help but reflect whats going on at the time. This painting has changed and grown yet again so I will post the updated version ASAP to give an interesting study of a painting's progression.
